Welcome to the new and improved website dedicated to shore angling around Tralee Bay, Co. Kerry, Ireland. If it's all-round quality sea fishing in Southwest Ireland you're looking for then you've come to the right place I reckon. Classic surf beaches for bass, rock and estuary marks for every species imaginable make this a very special part of Ireland. We get everything here including all the usual; bass, flounders, dabs, plaice, big shore turbot, sea trout, mullet, tope, pollack, coalfish, garfish along with the usual codling and whiting during the winter. All types of wrasse are available here from the shore plus a variety of rays with thornbacks, painted, stingray and undulates being the most common. Late summer throws up more unusual visitors such as triggerfish on selected marks between Fenit & Dingle. Golden-grey mullet and gilthead bream are becoming more common while the odd monster skate and anglerfish makes a surprise appearance from time to time too... and all from the shore without ever setting foot in a boat - magic!
This site is maintained by myself and a few friends and is intended as a resource for visiting anglers to the area so they can make the most of their time in this beautiful part of South-West Ireland. Tralee also boasts one of the largest and most prolific sea-angling clubs in the country which has produced both junior and senior Irish internationals over the past few years alone. This site is not affiliated with the club and probably the easiest way of acquiring details regarding membership/competitions etc. is to speak to the staff at Landers Outdoor World in Tralee who can put you in touch with the right people.
How has the site changed? Although the look and feel may be quite similar to before I have added more content to make the site more beneficial to anglers surfing the web. The weather and tide section of the site has been completely reworked to provide better quality up to the minute information. Google Maps has been integrated into the Marks section of the site and allows for detailed satellite images of all the marks within the bay. Check it out - it's really cool! Specimen weights and minimum size limits for our most common species are now listed along with a brand new section outlining the basic rigs and knots that we use in our general day to day shore fishing here in Kerry. 
A new favourite marks section is still in the pipeline which will cover not only Tralee Bay but the entire Dingle Peninsula.
Surfing around on the net a couple of years ago I couldn't find a single site containing any useful shore angling information for the area so I decided to throw a few pages up myself. Most of the stuff here is directly related to Tralee Bay and the Dingle Peninsula but every so often I head for the homeland so a few catch reports from around Cork might pop up now and again.
Check out the latest news section for catch reports updated on a monthly basis. Along with details of our own trips anyone contacting me with catch reports or news of their fishing travels in the area will get a mention here also. A list of contact information for local tackle shops, sea-angling guides and boats in the area is available along with links to some of the more useful resources I've found on the net. The weather and tidal information pages are now more comprehensive along with a new resources section which I intend to expand over the coming months. For anglers that may be visiting the area and unsure of the quality of fishing they can expect there is some photographic evidence provided here also - just to whet the appetite...

Irish Bass Bye-Law
As of this year Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Eamon Ryan has replaced the Bass (Restriction on Sale) Regulations and Bass Conservation Bye-Law. In a change from previous years, these measures have this year been introduced indefinitely and will no longer need to be renewed on an annual basis. The bye-law can be summarised in brief as follows:
- A minimum size limit of 40cm (tip of snout to end of tail), where all smaller fish are returned alive.
- A bag limit of 2 bass per angler in any one 24 hour period.
- A closed season from 15th May to 15th June during which time bass may not be fished for.
- The sale or offer for sale of bass (other than bass which has been imported into the State) is prohibited.
For anglers interested in the future of our sport I would suggest a further addition to the above rules. Even after decades of commercial over-fishing Ireland still has arguably, some of the best sea angling left in Europe. For the sake of our fragile marine environment return ALL fish alive.
